RENO –– At its Tuesday meeting, Washoe County Commissioners approved agreements between Washoe County (on behalf of the Truckee River Flood Project) and four different individual consulting engineering firms for on-call, as needed, structural inspection and analysis, cost estimating and other engineering services to support the Home Elevation Program. The four firms are Stantec Consulting Services, Inc., Summit Engineering Corporation, Tobey-Wade Consulting and Wood Rodgers.

About $300,000 of the Home Elevation budget was set aside to fund one or more structural consultants to provide professional engineering assistance to flood project staff regarding the suitability of individual homes for elevation based on standard engineering criteria, and to evaluate proposed elevation designs and budgets.

A Request for Qualifications (RFQ) was used to generate a list of firms to provide the structural engineering services. The selected firms are on standby to provide engineering advice as needed for each application submitted by a homeowner for structural elevation assistance, as well as an evaluation as to elevation feasibility and a cost estimate for the elevation.

Applications became available to homeowners in the Hidden Valley, Eastside Subdivision and Rosewood Lakes Area July 30. To date, more than a dozen applications have been received.
