RENO — Now celebrating its eighth year, the American Lung Association in Nevada is hosting its annual Fight for Air Run/Walk Sept. 12.

Funds raised are used to further American Lung Association in Nevada's efforts to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease.

The American Lung Association works in the community, including school programs such as Open Airways for Schools, which targets asthmatic children, youth tobacco prevention and cessation, advocacy for clean air and research to find a cure for asthma, lung cancer and other lung disease.

The Fight for Air features a professionally-timed half marathon, 10K and 5K run as well as a 5K walk that is not timed

The courses begin at Damonte Ranch High School and will offer spectacular views. Courses wind around wetlands, along dirt roads, trails, paved bike paths and roads.

"We are delighted to produce this fantastic event that promotes health and wellness in our community," said Louise Martin, executive director for the American Lung Association in Nevada. "We expect the event to grow again this year, not only because it offers participants a half marathon option but also because the course is meticulously laid out and in a beautiful location."
