According to a story on the News 10 website, Sgt. Tim Curran of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department said Jaivonne Flenory-Davis, 19, was arrested Thursday and is the suspect in the shooting at an “under 21” party Sunday night that left Dupree dead and a 17-year-old girl wounded.
Dupree was found shot in the doorway of the party location, according to News10. She had been shot once in the upper torso and died later at a hospital. The 17-year-old was found in the parking lot with gunshots in the upper body and arm. She is expected to survive.
Curran told the station that detectives believe the shooting is connected to a confrontation that broke out at the party between two rival gangs a little after 10 p.m. Private security personnel tried to get party-goers to leave when Flenory-Davis, who was in the parking lot, fired shots into the air and at those exiting the party, Curran said.
According to detectives, Flenory-Davis was shooting at rival gang members and the two victims were not his intended targets. Investigators have determined the two girls were not involved in the gang argument.
