Two weekend checkpoints run by area law enforcement netted five who were driving under the influence of alcohol as well as one minor who was found in possession of alcohol.

The checkpoints were set up just west of Fallon on Highway 50 and on State Route 28 near Ponderosa.

At the Fallon checkpoint, 1,709 cars passed through with 14 drivers directed into the secondary screening area because they seemed suspicious. Only one of the 14 was arrested for DUI.

At the Ponderosa checkpoint, 1,840 cars were screened with 26 drivers directed to the secondary screening area. Of those 26, four were arrested for DUI and one minor was arrested and charged with being in possession of alcohol as well as its consumption.
