SPARKS — For parents, looking for a youth watch program for their children this summer, the Sparks Parks and Recreation Department’s popular Summer Outburst program provides children with plenty of fun activities and a safe environment.

Summer Outburst is open to children entering first through seventh grades, and takes place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays June 14 through Aug. 27.

Parents can choose between two sites: the Recreation Gym, located at 98 Richards Way, or Mendive Middle School, located at 1900 Whitewood Drive.

Fun-themed weeks feature age-appropriate activities, including arts and crafts, swimming, sports and movies. The fees for the program are all-inclusive, so children also can enjoy special outings to Wild Island Water Park, Roller Kingdom and a bowling alley at no additional cost.

Space is limited. The weekly cost to participate is $120 for Sparks residents and $144 for nonresidents. Parents are required to send their children with a sack lunch, snack and bottled water. As space permits, there is a daily drop-in option for $36 per day for residents and $43 per day for nonresidents.

For more information, contact the Sparks Parks and Recreation Department at 353-2376 or log on to www.sparksrec.com.
