The tournament, held at Montrêux Golf & Country Club in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, typically takes place during the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational. The new date is opposite the British Open and held the same weekend as the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship at Lake Tahoe.
“Having these two golf events taking place in our region at the same time is a wonderful opportunity to showcase Reno-Tahoe as a premier golf destination,” said Ellen Oppenheim, president and CEO of the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority.
To date, the Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation has donated nearly $2 million for local nonprofits as a direct result of the Foundation’s mission and the PGA Tour’s objectives to give back to local communities where tournaments are held.
