NV Energy is awarding $5,000 in scholarships to three local college students prior to the start of tonight’s Reno Aces game. The utility pledged $100 per home run to the Dollars for Dingers Scholarship Fund for the first 50 homers at Reno Aces Ballpark.

The scholarships will be presented by NV Energy Senior Vice President Jeff Ceccarelli; Manos Maragakis, dean of the University of Nevada, Reno, College of Engineering; and Ted Plaggemeyer, dean of the Truckee Meadows Community College math, science, engineering and technology programs.

The scholarship dollars are going to TMCC students Todd Burlingham and Jon Cooke as well as Sean Clark, a student at the University of Nevada, Reno.

According to Ceccarelli, the Dollars for Dingers program was established to provide scholarships to students enrolled in renewable energy studies at TMCC and UNR.

Following the presentation, Ceccarelli will throw the ceremonial first pitch at the Aces game.
