At the meeting, the board will hear a presentation on the Medical Reserve Corps efforts to recruit new volunteers. Debra Barone, Medical Reserve Corps coordinator with the Washoe County Health Department, will give the presentation.
In addition to the Medical Reserve Corps presentation, the Spanish Springs CAB will hear a presentation from Regional Transportation Commission project manager Doug Maloy about 2009 roadwork projects in the area. Maloy will also give the board an update on projects that are a part of the RTC’s accelerated RTC-5 package.
Projects that are a part of RTC-5 include widening Vista Boulevard at the intersection of Los Altos north to Wingfield Springs. This project has an estimated cost of $25 million. It also includes work at the intersection of Vista and Baring boulevards and could cost $600,000. Both projects have been proposed in an effort to alleviate area congestion.
The board will also be reviewing for the first time a comprehensive plan amendment to change the Spanish Springs Area Plan to increase the percentage of commercial and industrial land. This amendment would affect the land use area at the northwest edge of the Spanish Springs Business Park on Pyramid Highway and Martin Marietta Road.
The land use amendment and review of the proposed project will not be voted on, but only presented at tonight’s meeting. The board will review this project again at the April 8 meeting. During the April meeting, the board will discuss and give recommendations on this item.
