The city of Sparks is alerting residents of a telephone scam claiming to be associated with the Sparks Firefighters Association.

According to the city, an unidentified caller is reminding residents to change the batteries in their smoke alarm(s). After the caller delivers this safety message, he/she is asking for money to benefit the Sparks Firefighters Association.

This is not a legitimate call. The Sparks Firefighters Association is not soliciting money through any telephone campaign. Residents should not respond to this request.
